Working with a Text Document

Text documents have some unique properties. All text-based documents are saved as .txt files.

Navigation

Slide your finger vertically across the screen to scroll up and down and horizontally to scroll across.

Entering Text

If you have created a new text document, the screen will be blank. Tapping anywhere on the screen will display a keyboard for you to begin typing.

If you are opening an existing document, tap anywhere in your text to display the keyboard and begin editing at that point.

Tapping the Hide button in the upper-right corner of the screen will close the keyboard.

Working with a Spreadsheet

iSpreadsheet has some unique properties. All spreadsheets are saved in .csv format.

Navigation

Slide your finger vertically across the screen to scroll up and down columns and horizontally to scroll across rows.

Layout

The screen has the following 4 elements:

* Data Entry - field at the top of the screen for data entry
* File button - save or exit the document
* Preview - the central part of the screen previews your document
* Toolbar - the bottom of the screen displays a context-sensitive toolbar



Entering Data

To enter data in a cell:
1 Tap the cell to highlight it.
2. Tap the text entry field to activate the keyboard.
3. Tap Done or another cell to exit data entry mode.

Deleting Cell Contents

To delete the contents of a cell:
1. Tap the required cell to highlight it.
2. Tap the X button at the right side of the text entry field.

Formatting a Cell

To apply formatting to a cell:
1. Tap the cell to highlight it.
2. Tap the appropriate icon on the toolbar:

* Bold - to toggle bold on/off
* Italic - to toggle italics on/off
* Cell Text Color - tap to open a menu with color choices
* Cell Background Color - tap to open a menu with fill color choices

Copy and Paste Data

To copy the contents of one cell to another:
1. Tap a cell to highlight it.
2. Tap the copy icon on the toolbar.
3. Tap the cell where you want to paste your data.
4. Tap the paste icon on the toolbar.

Inserting Rows and Columns

To insert a row or column:
1. Tap the column letter or row number to highlight it.
2. Tap the insert icon on the toolbar.

Deleting Rows and Columns

To delete a row or column:
1. Tap the column letter or row number to highlight it.
2. Tap the delete icon on the toolbar.

Change Column Width

To change the width of a column:
1. Tap the column letter to highlight it.
2. Tap the column width icons on the toolbar to make it wider or narrower.

Working with Formulas

The following formulas are available in iSpreadsheet:
COS SUM TAN ASIN SQRT SINH ACOS ATAN SQR LOG SIN TANH EXP

To apply a formula:

1. Tap the formula button on the toolbar.
2. Select the formula from the list.
3. Tap the Use button to populate the formula name in the text entry field.
4. Complete the formula.


Notes:

* INVALID - displays in a cell if formula data is entered incorrectly
* Definition & Use - the initial display list gives a definition for each formula along with directions for proper use

Working with a Sound Document

Sound documents have some unique properties. All sound documents are saved in .wav format.

To record a new sound document:
1. Tap the New Document button on the My Documents screen.
2. Tap Sound to open a new sound document.
3. Tap the Record button to capture ambient sounds using your iPhone microphone.
4. Tap the Stop button to finish.



To play a sound document from the beginning:
1. Tap the document to open it.
2. Tap the Play button.
3. Tap the Pause button to stop play and remain in the document and tap the File button to exit the document.

To play a sound document from a particular point:
1. Tap the document to open it.
2. Drag the dot on the scrub bar to move forwards or backwards to a point along the timeline.
3. Tap the Play button to play from that point.



Working with a Photo Document Photo documents have some unique properties. All photo documents are saved in .jpg format.

To create a photo document:
1. Tap the New Document button on the My Documents screen.
2. Tap Photo to open the Photo Organizer.
3. Line up the camera lens.
4. Tap the Camera button to take a photo.
5. Tap Retake to retake the picture, or Use to save the photo.

The Photo Organizer

All photos in a folder are organized in the Photo Organizer. Tap the arrow buttons to scroll through the photos or click the Play button to view your photo documents in a slide show.
